DATAX was an open-source Java container wrapper library for RDF, funded by Muze, Inc., an entertainment industry data provider. Unfortunately, we have not been able to locate a copy of the 1.0 beta distribution (released in 1999), but the original description and JavaDoc documentation are still available in the Internet Archive entry. Here's a short extract from the original introduction:

DATAX is based on the Java2 Collections package, so it will integrate easily with other Java components. Here's an example of the Java code needed to parse an XML document, extract all of the objects and properties in it, and iterate through them:

EntitySet entities = new RDFReader().read("mydocument.rdf");
Iterator it = entities.iterator();
while (it.hasNext()) {
  Entity e = (Entity)it.next();
  Iterator it2 = entity.iterator();
  while (it2.hasNext()) {
    Property p = (Property)it.next();
    doSomething(e, p);
